14 of DC Thomson Media brands were up for 13 awards, up against some tough competition from other titles within the Scottish publishing industry.

The PPA Scottish Magazine Awards are the premier celebration of achievement in the Scottish publishing industry and have become a prestigious event in the diary for magazine publishers. The awards are a showcase of excellence from writing and editing to design, online innovation and sales performance.

The night also saw BBC Scotland’s Jackie Bird welcomed into the PPA Scotland Hall of Fame. Jackie started her career at DC Thomson Media, where she worked as a magazine journalist and is currently a monthly columnist for No 1 magazine.

Maria Welch, Head of Magazines at DC Thomson Media, said, “I’m delighted that three of our most iconic brands; The People’s Friend, Oor Wullie and Beano have been recognised, not only for their editorial excellence but also for their enduring contribution to Scottish culture.”
